VERIZON WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION AWARDS
Please read these Official Rules carefully as they contain important information about how the Contest will be conducted, including which businesses are eligible to enter, deadline dates for entry, and rules regarding the submission of material that can be shared during the Contest. General Overview of the Contest. The 2013 Verizon Wireless Technology Innovation Awards (“the Contest”) is in search of the most innovative implementation of Verizon Wireless technology in small to medium sized businesses operating in Central Texas as defined below. These official rules of the Contest (the “Official Rules”) describe the manner in which the Contest will be conducted. Winners will be selected from Small and Medium Sized Businesses that employ between 1-500 employees.
Prizes. The winning business will receive a cash award in the amount of $10,000. The runner-up business will receive a cash award in the amount of $5,000. No substitutions for prizes will be made. Any applicable taxes on a prize are solely the responsibility of the winner. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. All prize values are in U.S. currency. Prize money will be mailed via USPS within 60 days of receiving all required and approved verification forms and tax documents.
Eligibility. The Contest is open only to Small Sized and Medium Sized Businesses who have a physical operating location in update city (as defined below) that meets and maintains all of the following requirements:
- The business must be a current Verizon Wireless business customer, that is not purchasing its Verizon Wireless business services through a customer or national account agreement, is not an active VSP/VPP partner or in the process of becoming partner; and
- The business must be a current Verizon Wireless business customer, that is not purchasing its Verizon Wireless business services through a consumer or non GPO (Group Purchasing Organization) national account agreement; is not an active VSP/VPP partner or applicant; and
- The applicable business account must be in good financial standing with Verizon Wireless at the time of entry and remain in good financial standing throughout the duration of the Contest; and
- The business must employ between 1-500 employees to qualify
Employees, officers, directors, representatives, and agents of Verizon Wireless or its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies, and members of their immediate families (i.e., spouses, parents, siblings, and children) and those living in their households, and federal, state and local government entities are not eligible to enter the Contest as the business owner or the applicant. Verizon Wireless shall have the right to verify the accuracy of all information submitted and also reserves the right to disqualify any business in its sole discretion. By participating, each business agrees to comply with these Official Rules and with the decisions of Verizon Wireless and any Contest judges, whose decisions are final and binding in all respects.
How to Enter:
Business Representative. Each business must designate an employee representative whom shall be the spokesperson on behalf of the business and responsible for the submission of all required information and documentation.
Method of Entry and Deadlines for Entry: The business may enter the Contest online at the Website or by mail one time. If the submission contains a video, that entry must be made via U.S. Mail.
Online Entry: Online versions of all entry materials can be found at the Website (www.vzwinnovationawards.com). To enter online, visit the Website and follow all instructions to create a profile, submit all required information, and upload completed submission forms. Online entries may be submitted beginning at 6:00 am Eastern Time (“ET”) on April 1, 2013 and ending at 11:59 p.m. ET on August 31, 2013.
Mail Entry: Copies of all entry materials can be downloaded from the Website, printed and completed. Mail-in entries must be postmarked and mailed to Verizon Wireless no later than August 31, 2013. To enter by mail, mail a single package containing all entry materials to the following address:

Additional release forms may be required if your business is selected as a potential prize winner for the Contest. You will be notified of these requirements via phone, email and/or mail from the information provided on the registration forms.
Selection Process: A panel of judges will consist of the following employees of Verizon Wireless: Verizon Wireless Director of Business Distribution and Marketing; Verizon Wireless Associate Director of Business Marketing; Verizon Wireless Marketing Manager; Verizon Wireless Marketing Consultant; Verizon Wireless Director of Business Sales; Verizon Wireless Associate Director of Strategic Sales; Verizon Wireless Regional President; Verizon Wireless Public Relations Manager.
Judging Criteria. The judges will evaluate each business’ entry on the following weighted criteria (“Judging Criteria”):
- 30% solution implementation (For instance, describe how your company has incorporated Verizon Wireless services into your business operations.)
- 30% effectiveness or business impact of solution (For instance, describe how using Verizon Wireless services in your business operations has delivered improved results for your business.)
- 40% innovation (For instance, describe how use of Verizon Wireless services in your business operations is innovative.)
Entry Content: Verizon Wireless is searching for the most innovative implementations of Verizon Wireless technology in Small and Medium Sized Businesses operating in Central Texas. Your entry should highlight how your business is using Verizon Wireless' technology in an innovative way and address the Judging Criteria above. You may submit the registration forms and your entry online or submit the registration forms and online entry forms with other materials, including a video, via U.S. Mail (see above). All materials submitted must be in English. All materials must be the original work product of one or more employees of the business submitting the entry. Videos should be less than 3 minutes long and created from footage shot by an employee of the business or otherwise derived from video owned by the company. Company covenants that it has all rights to distribute and use submitted footage. Footage cannot come from any other source, such as a broadcast television show or Internet broadcast. Any still images included in your video must follow the same rules. If you submit a video, the video must be submitted in QuickTime, MPEG1, MPEG4, Windows Media or AVI format and mailed on a DVD, Mini-DV, or VHS cassette. Dimensions for your video should be 320 high x 240 wide. Larger and smaller sizes will be rejected. We can't accept files larger than 100 MB. Soundtracks cannot contain any music not created by you or by someone who has given you written permission to use their music. Even then, you must be sure that the person giving permission owns the rights to the music. It’s not uncommon for artists to sell those rights to whoever is producing or publishing their recording. PLEASE DO NOT use any music in your video unless you are CERTAIN you have the rights to use the music.
Your entry will be ineligible if your entry materials (including a video) contain copyrighted material for which you do not have written permission to use; pornographic or obscene material of any kind; profanity, whether spoken or written; or subject matter unrelated to Verizon Wireless business services. We will not return any entry materials submitted to us.
The selection of the winners shall be made by the judges based on the Judging Criteria above and such other criteria as we shall determine in our sole discretion, which may be subjective. The judges’ decisions regarding the awards selections are final and not subject to challenge or appeal.
Announcement and Notification: The business selected as potential prize winners by the judges will be contacted by Verizon Wireless by telephone and/or follow-up email confirmation on or about September 9, 2013.
Confirmation of Potential Winners: Within 6 business days of Verizon’s notification, each business representative for a potential winner must confirm to Verizon Wireless (in the manner that Verizon Wireless specifies) that the potential winner is willing and available to participate in the Awards Luncheon and a business video production on the date, time and location specified by Verizon Wireless.
The Verizon Wireless Technology Innovation Awards luncheon will be held on Thursday October 3rd from 11:30 am - 2:00pm Central Standard Time at the Hyatt Regency Dallas (“Awards Luncheon”). The winners are required to have certain employees attend the Awards Luncheon. Sponsors are not responsible for and assume no liability for the cancellation of the Awards Luncheon.
Publicity/Media Requirements: By participating in the Contest, the business agrees, if Verizon Wireless requests, to send a representative to appear at the Awards Luncheon and certain other events (including, without limitation, at in-store promotions, photos sessions, autograph signings, press/publicity appearances, conferences, “meet and greets,” tradeshows and other public events and activities as Verizon Wireless shall determine in its sole discretion), and to make certain employees available to Verizon Wireless in order to film, photograph, shoot or otherwise create promotional, advertising, marketing and other materials promoting the Contest, Verizon Wireless or Verizon Wireless’ products and services, and render such other promotional services as Verizon Wireless requests, on dates and times to be determined by Verizon Wireless, all for no compensation; to allow Verizon Wireless to use the proceeds of the services at such events, and the image, picture, likeness, performance, statements, voice, name of the business and employees, and any material based thereon or derived there from, edited or altered as Verizon Wireless in its sole discretion so chooses, together with any other material (whether fictional or non-fictional), in any manner, venue or media whatsoever (whether now known or hereafter devised) (including, without limitation, on all forms of television, print, radio, broadcast media, industrial and event usage, the internet and new media (e.g., podcasts, testimonial sales videos, etc.) and any other media whatsoever) anywhere in the world at any time, without compensation or permission, for any purpose, including, without limitation, for purposes of advertising, public relations, trade, promotion and/or merchandising in connection with Verizon Wireless, its products and services or the Contest (and any subsequent or similar promotions); and to sign any other documents as Verizon Wireless may request in connection with any promotional, public relations, marketing, merchandising or advertising services. By participating in the Contest, the business agrees that Verizon Wireless may use, in its sole discretion, the entry materials of such business submitted to Verizon Wireless for any purpose whatsoever.
THIS CONTEST MAY BE CANCELLED OR MODIFIED IN THE SOLE DISCRETION OF VERIZON WIRELESS. Participating businesses will be notified of any changes at the Website (www.vzwinnovationawards.com).
General: Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries per category. Verizon Wireless is not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the printing, offering, or description of any prize or in any other materials produced in connection with the Contest. Verizon Wireless is not responsible for lost, late, stolen, misdirected, mutilated, or illegible registrations, entries, submissions, nor for electronic transmission errors resulting in omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations, transmission or broadcast, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of submission materials or for technical, network, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions or limitations of any kind, or inaccurate transmissions of or failure to receive an entry or submission by Verizon Wireless on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or any combination thereof. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, VERIZON WIRELESS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES OR OTHER REMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. If for any reason, including infection by computer viruses, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes, the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest is corrupted or affected, Verizon Wireless reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. In addition, if for any reason, in its sole discretion, Verizon Wireless determines that the Contest should not or cannot be run as planned, Verizon Wireless may cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, that determination shall not affect the remainder of these Official Rules, which shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if they did not contain the invalid or illegal provision. All decisions of Verizon Wireless related to the Contest are final and binding. All federal, state and local laws apply. This contest shall be governed by the laws of the state of Florida without regard to its conflict of laws provision. Void where prohibited.
Communications: By participating in this Contest, each business agrees to receive communications regarding the Contest and any future contests, sweepstakes, promotions or events of or relating to Verizon Wireless.
